Hi, ArcGIS professionals,

My company is in effort to create electrical distribution planning models from our existing ArcGIS electrical distribution network data.  These planning models will be used in a different tool and basically need to get each electrical component’s “From Node” and “To Node” (node name and GIS coordinates), such as electrical lines, switches, power fuses etc.…, so the tool can decide how these electrical devices are connected. Therefore, tracing these electrical devices connectivity in ArcGIS is critical.

I talked to an ArcGIS consultant, and he said he uses Visual Basic to access to ArcObjects, the Geometric Network, trace connectivity ….. I am not an ArcGIS professional, but an electrical engineer. I played with ArcPy and don’t know how to trace this device connectivity. And I don't think ArcPy can access to ArcObjects, am I right?

My question are: is Arcpy capable to do it? Did anyone use Arcpy to complete the similar projects before?    Your feedback is appreciated…..

Thanks a lot

Edde H
