ArcGIS Pro 3.1.5: How to create multiple-line titles instead of using "word wrap" when resizing "Straight Text" in the layout?
I couldn't find a way to create multiple-line titles instead of relying on "word wrap" when resizing the "Straight Text" element in the layout.
I am not using 3.1, so perhaps things changed since then, but in my version
This is a title \n with no word wrap \n on
thowing newline \n seems to work for me
I found that we can use the "rectangle text" tool, which allows multiple lines when the box is resized, instead of word wrapping.
From some notes I made for an earlier version:
only wraps the text within the box in the Element pane to keep it visible, it doesn't wrap text on the Layout page when using static Straight text. Your screen shot seems to confirm this as text is wrapped in the pane but not on the Layout.
I don't see Word wrap in version 3.3.2 as it automatically wraps the text in the pane.
As Dan noted above, inserting \n in the text string where you want line breaks should work but you will likely have to reset the Horizontal alignment.
Dan_DMR's suggestion worked as well.
@JamalNUMAN is right, you want to use a rectangle text element. Straight text doesn't word wrap automatically, rectangle text does. Starting in ArcGIS Pro 3.3, you can easily convert between text types by right-clicking an existing element and choosing "Convert to xxxx text". You can also learn more about text types in the Add graphics, text, and pictures help topic.
It’s great that we can switch from one text type to another
