Hi

Can anyone confirm when ArcGIS 10.3 and its new addon Pro, are going to be officially released? On the video from the congress, ESRI said it would be during Q3 of this year. I am keen to get my hands on it as Pro appears to have some nice additional functionality, however the most important to me is the multiple layouts.

Thanks,

Nigel

I'm not entirely sure what your subscription covers.  That would be a question for ESRI ESRIor stored some where in your customer care portal.  Here is the ArcGIS Online main sign in page https://www.arcgis.com/home/

This is a separate log in from your ESRI Global Account.

Hi Steven

Thanks for your quick responses...this ArcGIS online thing is very frustrating as I find it all quite ambiguous. Below is an excerpt from the email I received from my local agent:

To download ArcGIS Pro, visit pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app, and sign in with your ArcGIS Online organizational account. Remember that all ArcGIS for Desktop customers on maintenance are entitled to an ArcGIS Online Organization Plan, so it’s time to register for it if you haven’t yet done so. You can install ArcGIS Pro alongside any release of ArcGIS for Desktop.

From this, it appears I am entitled to an Organizational plan. I went to the page you directed me to and I log in without any problems. I am able to create a map etc. However one of the links says:

Sign Up Now! Get a free ArcGIS Online account and start making web maps today.

So I am stumped. I am the only user on my account and I have a single license, therefore surely I am the one to provide Organizational authority?

Thanks,

Nigel

I'm part of an organizational account so things work a little differently.  According to the links ESRI sent you, you should have access to ArcGIS Online Organization Subscription.  Here is an excerpt from one of the links above:

Every eligible ArcGIS for Desktop license receives one Named User account.  You’ll be asked to choose whether you want your ArcGIS for Desktop License Entitlements applied to an ArcGIS Online Organization Plan account or Portal for ArcGIS instance.

Were you ever asked if you want your license applied to ArcGIS Online?  I'm sure your local agent will be able to help you get this set up if you haven't done it yet.

At the bottom of this link there is an email and phone number to help you set up your ArcGIS Online entitlement.

Hi Steven

I do not ever being asked about having my license applied to ArcGIS online. I will forward your email below to my agent as well as my other emails and hopefully I will get some joy.

Thanks so much. I will let you know what transpires, although I seem to have been having this problem for over a year now.

Hi all

FYI: Eventually got my authorization for ArcPro. It seems there was an issue with my ArcGIS online account which has now been resolved. I am testing it at the moment and finding it a little different but not unworkably so and it has not bombed on me as yet, which is great. I installed the help files, however either I am looking at the wrong help or it is very scarce on tutorial and general help, but this is not much of an issue for me.

One thing I can't seem to determine is whether you can create graticule grids, as per ArcGIS layouts. I will be investigating more to try work this out, however I have only had it for an hour and it seems relatively simple. For the die-hards, it may be quite something to overcome the differences between ArcGIS and ArcPro, but it is quite intuitive and if it has most of the simple functions like grids etc, I will definitely then port my data into ArcPro to make full use of the multiple view and multiple layouts (hallelujah) functionality.

Glad to hear you got it up and running!  It is different and takes some getting use to.  Of course I was trying to learn it by playing around so it took me a bit longer to learn rather than using the help guides and tutorials.

Thanks for your reply.

Did you manage to locate grid graticules for the layouts, or is it a different prospect altogether than what I am used to?

Also, do you know what the dynamic page options available are?

Lastly, do you know if I can use dynamic pages from mapsheets etc?

I didn't have a chance to dive into real deep.  Once I upgraded to the Pre-Release 1.0 version, it closes immediately after signing in.  I figured I would wait until the official release before I started diving into it.

Interesting that yours is bombing. My machine bombed out, however it has done that before so it may not be related at all, as I think it is possibly an overheating issue which I need to resolve.

I really am hoping I can do grid graticules as it is quite an important part of a layout, in my opinion. I located the dynamic text, however had to do some actual work before I can try again to locate dynamic pages.

Cheers.
