Hi,
I'm playing around with a map of U.S. Counties, and I was wondering if there was a way to somehow only label the counties that were along the coast? I know I could just label all counties and delete the ones that are landlocked, but it would be super convenient if there's a way to quickly do this.
Thank you in advance!!!!
Perform an intersect query your counties against the Ocean/Coast layer. Save that query as a layer and label those in that saved layer.
I would create a new field in the US counties feature class, label it something like COASTAL. Then you can do a Select Layer by Location to highlight all of the coastal counties (using some other layer that represents water bodies or coasts) and then populate the new field with 1, True, or something similar. Then you can write a label expression that only draws a label when there is the value in the new column.
