When I copy/paste an FC into the same geodatabase, Catalog avoids creating a duplicate by adding "_1" as a suffix to the FC.

To me, I think it would make more sense to start the numbering at _2, not _1. Since there already is a "1" version of the FC -- the original.

Otherwise, I find I'm always going back and renaming _1 to _2. That seems like an unnecessary step.

Thanks for the Idea, @Bud

The behavior you are describing is the behavior I am seeing in Pro already.  To use your example, copying the class 'STRLN' and pasting it into the same workspace will create 'STRLN_1'.  If you paste it again it will create 'STRLN_2'

It is only when you copy 'STRLN_1' and paste it will it create 'STRLN_1_1'. Is that the behavior that you are asking to see?

@SSWoodward Good catch. Got my wires crossed. I edited the idea.

Got it, thanks for clarifying.  I've moved this idea back to Open.
