In ArcMap it was possible to load MapInfo .Tab data directly with the data interoperability extension. Now I have to convert them to gdb or shapefiles. This makes it very cumbersome, increases the risk of several versions and blows up the data volume. So I really would like the option to view .Tab data with the data interoperability extension back.
Hi Cordula
The nature of Pro makes it hard for us to replicate the interoperability connection experience you are referring to. What you can do is create a toolbox with a model that does a Quick Import then copies the data into memory and into your map, like this:
@BruceHaroldGreat idea to keep it in memory. I am not sure if I then have to rerun the step every time I open the map again? I am curious about what made it easier for you to implement in ArcMap?
The multithreaded nature of Pro and that Data Interoperability runs in a separate process made it hard to make connections work. Memory workspace persistence between sessions is coming but I'm not sure of the time frame.
Hello, CordulaGöke.
What about TAB Reader if you need to add MapInfo datasets and workspaces directly?
@SeaRMIf there are options that still work, it is great. It just seems like a step back that something that was included earlier, is not provided by ESRI any more.
