The "Undo" button in Desktop should show a drop down history of events that can be undone. Some edits are so small that clicking the undo button does not give any visual indication if the operation has completed or not. With a history, I could pick what I want undone.

Extend the undo and redo buttons so they are a short drop down list.  Then you can undo or redo a number of adds, deletes, moves, etc at once instead of one at a time with each click of the button.  Much like the undo and redo buttons in Office products.

What about being able to select your Undo action?  Rather the last three, you may only need to Undo the third from the last action performed.

Yes to extended non-linear undo useful especially when editing. Available in Photoshop, why not in ArcGIS?

Closing this for Desktop.  See the improved Undo stack in ArcGIS Pro:

There is also filter capability so that you don't have to undo all changes - https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/editing/filter-undo-and-redo-for-editing.htm
