In ArcMap, while reshaping features, the sketch could dynamically intersect with existing features—allowing precise, on-the-fly edits without committing temporary geometry. This capability is essential for detailed editing workflows, particularly when working with complex line or polygon networks.

In ArcGIS Pro, the Reshape tool no longer respects intersections with sketches in progress. Users must commit a sketch as a feature or manually construct intersection geometry before reshaping, which adds extra steps and significantly slows down iterative editing.

Request: Restore or provide an option for reshape sketches to dynamically intersect existing features, similar to ArcMap, to preserve workflow efficiency and editing precision.

Impact:

  • Reduces unnecessary steps in daily editing tasks
  • Prevents workflow interruptions when reshaping complex geometries
  • Restores parity between ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro editing functionality

Hi @SteveIrving Can you please clarify a bit more - perhaps with some screenshots of the scenario?

My best guess on what you are rereferring to involves having Map Topology enabled and then using the Reshape Edges tool in ArcGIS Pro but that's just a guess. Here is an example of reshaping an intersection of two selected edges of an intersection (edges are selected by holding down the left mouse button and dragging along edges to trace a valid selection):
