When a geoprocessing tool, script, etc. has finished running (whether successfully or has errored out), play a tone that indicates the process is done. This could be a setting that is toggled on/off by users in their ArcGIS Pro Options, and would be hugely useful when multitasking and waiting on lengthy geoprocessing processes to finish running.
Not that they made sound, but those baby-blue pop-ups in ArcMap were very nice -- appearing over other windows. I wonder if Pro could utilize Windows notifications.
When processing large batches of data, especially arial images, an option to play a tone when the process is completed will notify me to return to pro to initialize the next batch (or at the very least that my task is complete). A default of "No Bell" would be fine, but a small button I could click to "Chime" when the progress bar is complete would be a huge quality of life Improvement. I lose a lot of opportunity not knowing when my process is finished.

Great idea! I would definitely want to be able to control the notification on a "per use" basis, as I could see it getting annoying if you have a bunch of short term GP tools queued up, and they just start "dinging" one after another.
Just came here because I need this option and definitely the ability to enable and disable. It should be available for model builder, geoprocessing pane/window, and notebooks.
Just an update that in ArcGIS Pro 3.4, geoprocessing tools have been integrated with the Pro notification system. This doc link will work when 3.4 is released:
As part of the overall notification system, geoprocessing notifications will benefit as enhancements to that system are made. There is a plan to support notification sounds in a future release. I'm changing the label of this Idea to align with how notification enhancements are tracked.
My laptop is old and slow and this would be invaluable ! Tell me why it took me 2 hours to successfully position five photos the way I wanted them. A notification sound would at least let me know when it was done so I didn't have to keep checking back.
Adding a sound indicator when a tool or script runs is a simple yet effective way to enhance user experience and workflow efficiency. It provides an immediate audio cue that informs the user when a process has started, completed, or encountered an error, eliminating the need to constantly monitor the screen of 51 game login. This feature is particularly useful for developers or system administrators running long or background tasks. By integrating short notification sounds, users can stay productive and multitask without missing important script updates. Whether implemented through system beeps, custom audio files, or sound libraries, the indicator adds a professional and accessible touch to any tool or automation process.
