Hi, with the recent 3.7 update to Pro the ability to control layer visibility in the layout map frame was a very welcome addition. This will now allow us to create multiple report figures from a single map (I'm aware this was possible in a different way using map series) saving a lot of time configuring layers as they can all come from a single source of truth.
My only frustration with this is the line from the documentation here that says "Any new layers added to the map, regardless of visibility, are automatically visible in the map frame. You can then turn them off within the map frame.". I was concerned that this may mean layers may end up turned on in layouts accidentally but after posting about this in the forum yesterday I'm now aware that you can change this behaviour via the Pro options so that new layers added to a map can be set to off by default, see Robert's helpful response here.
This does negate some of the problems I initially had with the implementation of this feature, however, my suggestion is that it would be good to be able to set the layer behaviour at the point the layer is added to the map. If that map is used in multiple layouts a pop up asking which it should be turned on in would be useful. You could maybe have a window in the aprx that allows you to see all layouts in a project and then toggle the layers you want on for each. This would just allow quicker layer control without having to open and update multiple layouts.
Thanks, Anthony
