I've created a new coded value domain and entered a new code/description. Now, I want to save the domain.

However, the save domain button is greyed out. After some confusion, I realize that I can only save the domain after removing focus from the code/description text boxes, such as clicking a textbox in the domain section, not the domain value (code/description) section.

It would be more intuitive if we could save a new domain after populating the values, without needing to click a special spot to enable the save button.

Until you hit enter, the domain description has not been added to the domain value, which means the domain is invalid.  You cannot save an invalid domain. Hitting enter to complete adding the description to the domain will make save available.

Thanks @SSWoodward.

I understand that using the Enter key is part of some people's workflow. But for others, hitting the Enter key doesn't occur to us; we're clickers. I figure clicking should be a valid workflow -- intuitive clicking to enable the save button.

Currently, clicking other areas like the white space below the domain section, the white space below the domain value section (codes/description), or the white space in the ribbon doesn't enable the save button. Only clicking the actual domain section row, the Contents pane, or the Catalog pane enables the save button, which seems arbitrary.

@Bud, thanks for clarifying.

Clicking anywhere other than inside the domains view or the domains contextual ribbon will remove focus from the domain and enable save. While this idea gathers kudos, hitting enter when you are finished typing the domain code/value will allow you to achieve exactly what you are requesting, the ability to save your domain without having to click away.
