We have a requirement for tables stored in an enterprise geodatabase to be published to Enterprise (portal) and be editable. Currently there are two ways to do this.

  1. Publish from Pro and add a dummy featureclass to the map then publish. You do get the table but then you have to always have a feature class published with it. This adds an unnecesary item to the service and makes things more confusing.
  2. Publish using Bulk Publishing in Enterprise 10.7. This creates a separate service for each table. No featureclass is required. The downside is it published all objects that the datastore credentials have permissions on.

So it seems to me that the ability to publish standalone tables exists somewhere internally but does not seem to be exposed in Pro or in the incredibly poorly named "ArcGIS API for Python". It would be very useful to deliberately publish a standalone table by reference to Enterprise (portal) using ArcGIS Pro.

PS: Fifteen years ago we had developers adding Null geometry columns to their standalone tables so they could be published and consumed via services. It seems we are not much further along now than we were then.

Yes, it would be nice to separate the spatial tables from the 'business' tables.

I would love to see a solution for this.  We would like to keep our data tables in SQL Server and just reference them instead of pushing them to Enterprise as hosted.

This simple, and still very much relevant, feature request has been open for years without feedback. Anything ESRI?

I am just curious since I need this for mu org as well has this been resolved?

Hello ESRI,

we also need this funtionality.

It is really sad to see that ESRI just does not give anything about this basic requirement of their users for years!

Really sad.

OMG I can't believe this is still an issue. Couldn't be that complicated. I searched for help cause i thought i am to dumb to do it correctly. Didn't know that there is no correct way to do so. Thanks for bringing this issue on the table. Three years ago. Hopefully it will be solved soon.

I really need this functionality to publish a tax parcel table to Portal. I can't even create a dummy layer to publish it the backward way as I am not the owner of the SDE so I am stuck with absolutely no solution and no parcels within my web apps. Sad to see this is not being implemented yet as it would be greatly appreciated and utilized @JonEmch

Bump. Need to run scheduled SQL scripts against these tables with no dummy feature class. C'mon Jack!

I will add my voice to the rest.  This would help us a lot and has never made sense.
