I would really like to be given some more control regarding insertion points and text adjustments when labeling small/mid sized polygon features. For instance, when labeling a lake and prefering a label inside it will center on the lake and therefore spilling out on each side of the polygon. Generally when annotating a feature that is smaller than its text I would like to be able to anchor the text to start in the lake and spill out on only one side.

If maplex would enable how the label adjusts to the insertion point of a polygon instead of always centering (which would move depending on other labels/weights/rules etc) it would greatly improve the quality of our labeling in our maps.

You can use the Allow Asymmetric Overrun parameter to have the label extend to one side of a feature when it has a higher weighted feature to the other side.

In the example below I weighted the green polygon at 700 and that forced the label to extend to the empty space to the right.
