Packaging will refuse to progress if the history has errors (https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-questions/packaging-error-00246-history-items-with-errors/m...). This idea is to (optionally) allow packaging even if there are errors.  Often the errors are the very reason for sharing a package, to see if someone else can solve or reproduce the issue.

(Besides, I often encounter history packaging errors for items that are merely warnings, "output will be overwritten" for instance.)

@MattWilkie1 Thank you for submitting this idea. The Package Project geoprocessing tool has an "Include History Items" parameter. Does the "History items will be included" option meet your requirement?

No, because packaging will refuse to progress if the history has errors (https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-questions/packaging-error-00246-history-items-with-errors/m...). This idea is to (optionally) allow packaging even if there are errors.

@MattWilkie1 Thanks for the response. The Package Project sharing pane does not currently support creating packages with errors. We will look into adding support for this.

As a workaround for the time being, can you try using the Package Project geoprocessing tool to package your project? Please see the screenshot below:

Thanks for looking into adding support for this option @JonahLay

And also thanks for pointing out there two* different methods to Package Project, and yes for the problem project which sparked this post, the gp tool works and the ribbon tool does not.

* (Side note: the help pages for the two methods do not mention there is another method, and that they do not work the same:  ribbon tool, gp-tool.)

It's good to see this is now in the Product Plan, thanks  @SusanTran .

Please pass on: while they're working in this module, also increase detail in the warning and error messages that are produced.

For instance what brought to me to revisit this idea today is that both Ribbon and GP packaging tools are are failing on sharing a particular project. The message simply says "Failed to consolidate project due to problem with Geoprocessing History item: Package Layer." There are many items in the history for "Package Layer". Which one is it? If the job number or date or something was included in the message I wouldn't have to go through the slow method of removing them one by one to identify the culprit.
