Field mapping in GP tools is done through a very small window that is not resizable. This is a real pain when you're reordering and manipulating more than, say, 5-10 fields. As someone who will turn his monitor vertical to get a good look at a table, I would appreciate the ability to make this window larger - perhaps into a separate floating window that I can maximize.
It would also help if I could resize the Output Fields column without making the whole pane wider.
Thanks for your interest in the field map and suggestions!
We are currently redesigning the field map for the near term. One of the goals is to restructure the field map by removing the left and right division between the Output Fields and the Source/Properties panels. But the new control will still be embedded as a parameter control, and we are not planning to place it in a floating window or dialog that can be maximized.
When the redesign work and development are complete, we will update this idea and perhaps close it if it is no longer necessary. We will keep in mind that users like yourself may want to resize various components to take up more screen space while working inside the field map.
hey @MargaretCrawford - i just ran into the new field mapping window (including the larger pop-out window) for the first time and I gotta say, it's great! So far so good, thank you!
Hi @wayfaringrob, I am happy to hear you like the updates!
I just realized I missed updating this idea. That older comment was made before we decided to go with our current implementation in Pro 3.2. It's fun to think about how far we have come since then, and I am glad we considered your feedback.
Also, in case you missed it, you can check out this blog to learn a little more about the updated field map parameter in Pro 3.2: https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-pro/analytics/big-improvements-to-the-field-map-in-...
