Our organization is using an Enterprise parcel fabric in ArcGIS Pro, and we use the Clip tool (primarily the Discard(Remainder) method) to create remainder parcels in our daily parcel maintenance activities. When completing a clip using parcels, the parcel attribution is maintained for the historic parcel and transferred to the original target(parent) parcel. However, any new lines created by splitting features during the clip process receive null attribute values (other than the default COGO fields for geometry and the record maintenance).

To note- we have the domain split policy set to Duplicate for any line feature field attribution that we wish to maintain during split workflows. We are interested in the ability to maintain user defined field values (as set by the domain split policy) based on the parent line features when completing a clip.  The new line features do contain the Parent Line ID, which contains the global ID of the parent line that was split to create the new “child” line.

If the Split or Divide tool were used to split the line, the tool functionality includes the inheritance of the attribution from the parent line feature. The Clip tool does not appear to include the same functionality to update lines based on the parent line feature when using a polygon feature to clip the selected target features.

By incorporating this feature, our mappers would be able to reduce manual attribution for newly clipped line features which would improve the overall user experience of the tool.
