Feature Compare GP Tool > schema only — Don't make me choose a sort field

I'm using the Feature Compare tool's schema only functionality to find same-name fields in two feature classes that have different field lengths.

It looks like I need to specify a field in the Sort Field parameter in order for the tool to run, such as fudging it by using OBJECTID.

That seems unecessary to me. Could that functionality be changed so I can run schema only without specifying a sort field?
