Esri currently supports only two on‑premises VDI solutions. We respectfully request that Parallels RAS be added to this list.
As a GIS System Administrator, I rely on VMware Horizon View to address network latency and ensure efficient workflows. However, recent ownership changes have raised concerns within our IT department about the long‑term stability of the Horizon client. At the same time, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops has been deemed cost‑prohibitive, leaving us with limited viable options.
Parallels RAS offers a robust, cost‑effective, and operationally efficient alternative that aligns well with our technical and organizational requirements. Expanding Esri’s list of supported on‑premises VDI solutions to include Parallels RAS would provide greater flexibility for organizations like ours while maintaining the performance and reliability necessary for GIS workloads.
For these reasons, we strongly encourage Esri to consider supporting Parallels RAS as an additional on‑premises VDI solution.
