If at all possible, I would like to see a checkbox somewhere on the Join Data dialog box in ArcMap, a box you could check to get a join that was case insensitive.

Let's say you have two text fields you want to join and one of the fields have say, Camel Case type text entered while the other does not, and that you just wanted to do a "quick'n'dirty" test of something, then it's a tad annoying the default is a case sensitive join.

I think the bigger problem here is that if you were to join using personal geodatabase feature classes/tables, a case insensitive join happens, whereas a join using file geodatabase feature class/table happens with case sensitivity.  ArcMap, however, doesn't tell you that this is happening, so I think a lot of folks could be unaware that their joins may or may not be doing what they think.

At a minimum, some warning should be shown for folks joining with file geodatabase items.  Ideally, file geodatabase should allow for case insensitive joins.

Use the Join one To first join operation of Add Join for a case insensitive join.
