ArcGIS Pro 3.4.3; File Geodatabase

There is an option to "Auto Apply attribute edits" in Options > Editing > General > Attributes.

I'm wondering if a similar option could be added to the Geometry section for geometry edits: "Auto Apply geometry edits"

I want a new point to be immediately saved to the FC after I draw it.

Scenario: A while back, I created ~5 points in a FGDB FC. But when I look at the FC now, the points aren't there. I think what happened is, I forgot to save my edits, left ArcGIS Pro open, and then my computer was automatically restarted by IT. So Pro didn't have an opportunity to prompt me to save the edits, such as when closing Pro, so the edits were lost. If I could automatically save geometry edits when creating points, then this scenario could be avoided in the future.

I'm aware of the "Time interval (minutes)" and "Number of operations" options in the "Session" section.

I'd prefer each point to be saved immediately after creating it, not on a time interval.

Is the recommended workflow for me to change the "Number of operations" to 1? That doesn't seem overly intuitive and is inconsistent with attribute editing, which is confusing. If that's the recommended workflow, then I think it could be improved by adding a simple "Auto Apply geometry edits" option.

Setting auto save to one operation is a reasonable choice if you don't want to be able to undo.  I think using the term "apply" here is inconsistent and confusing as "apply" is generally used to describe making an edit as in "Auto apply attribute edits" but when you create a new feature that edit has been made and "applied" to the database (indeed it must be to have it get an ObjectID allocated to that feature and thus selected on the map).

As to whether setting "Automatically save edits" to 1 operation is a recommended workflow, as long as you understand that undo (and discard edits) will be unavailable and willing to make that tradeoff for whatever benefits you get from saving regularly that is up to you, but I think you see why we aren't pushing that as a common pattern for people to use.

From the use case you describe, I would still recommend setting a time interval of several minutes as that would have prevented any use case of forgetting to save and the machine being restarted, I think. But that choice is certainly up to you.

@John_Jones  Thanks!

I think using the term "apply" here is inconsistent and confusing as "apply" is generally used to describe making an edit...

To clarify, are you suggesting that I should change the idea title wording from "apply" to "save"?

The new title would be "Auto save geometry edits (after each edit)".
