My idea is to add the option to pick what version you would like to upgrade to in the "Software Update" GUI in ArcGIS Pro. Currently, it only lets you upgrade to the latest ArcGIS Pro version. This is not always feasible if we rely on 3rd party integrations or if there are not deep learning packages yet available for a major release. I would recommend at least showing the last few releases and patches. Without this option, we have to get the admin of our ESRI organization to download the older version separately. We are a large organization with many ESRI users. This new feature would lessen the admin burden and speed turnaround times.
Thank you for the consideration,
Amy Rose
Hi Amy,
At 3.4, the ability to target a specific version for updates was added. This can be configured individually by users (if the admin allows it) so that different users can update to different versions. It's a little different from what you suggested in terms of implementation, but it might achieve the same purpose. See Update ArcGIS Pro > Configure update notifications.

From your description, it sounds like your organization is pinned to a specific version of ArcGIS Pro due to various reasons, including 3rd party integrations. This is a common scenario.
As Tim pointed out in the first comment, we added the ability for admins to set a target update version to address this need. However, the capability was added in ArcGIS Pro 3.4, so that is the version that organizations will need to get to to begin taking advantage of the functionality. As an example, once you're on 3.4, or any version after that, and you get your integrations, add-ins, etc. all set up on that version and decide you will stay there for a couple of years, the admin can set that as the target version and users will no longer receive update notifications for later, current versions. Update notifications will be for patches to your target version.
Will that address your idea?
Thank you
Hi @KoryKramer Do I understand you correctly that once we are on 3.4 there will be the option to pick a future version to 'lock' the upgrade process to? i.e. we get 3.4, then 3.5, 3.7, 4.0, 4.1 comes out. We find out 4.0 is a bit of a mess so we lock upgrades to 3.7
We can then allow Pro to upgrade, and it will go from 3.4 to 3.7 and also grab whatever 0.X.x versions exist?
If true we then need the same to pick the reverse - per other Idea. Pick an older version and Pro will do the rest to downgrade, rather than downloading isos like it is the 90's 😉

@RTPL_AU the problem we were solving was for organizations who have reasons to not be on the most current version to be able to still receive patch updates for their non-current version. The UpdateTargetVersion can be set as explained here: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/get-started/update-arcgis-pro.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_1502232C3E1...
For your question about being on 3.4 and setting the target version to something like 3.7, yes, that will work, but note that once a version later than 3.4 is released, you would get notifications for the then-current version... If the intent were to get update notification for 3.4 even though a newer version is available, you would set TargetUpdateVersion to 3.4.
