The default labels with the ArcGIS Parcel Fabric display the distance of each line for various parcel types such as Tax Parcels, Lots, Blocks, Plats, etc. It also symbolizes the label slightly different depending on if a length is entered, from geometry, or computed. For example geometry based labels include '<>' around this distance while entered distances display only the distance.
The issue that if the cogo type is null, or an invalid type then the label is displayed with no prefix or postfix symbol which implies the distance is entered. I think that null or invalid cogo distance type labels should include brackets so they are less likely to be interpreted as accurate...
