Goal: Implement a native text formatting tag for overlining (e.g., <OVL>) to match the existing underline (<UND>) functionality.
The Problem: In professional cartography (specifically Aviation Charting), we must denote "Between" constraints with a line both above and below the text. Currently, there is no automated way to create a continuous overline.
Why Workarounds Fail:
Character Stacking: Using underscores or overscore characters results in visible gaps between glyphs, especially in PDF exports.
Manual Drawing: Our workflow is automated and dynamic; manual annotation or graphic lines are not feasible.
Request: A native <OVL> tag that produces a solid, continuous line above text, fully compatible with Arcade and dynamic labeling.
Hi
We have an enhancement request for this functionality - ENH-000155018.
Please contact Technical Support to have your organization added to it.
Could you provide an example of where you would be using this formatting tag? Please provide images.
thanks
Wendy
As it has been introduced ; text formatting tags can be used almost anywhere text is placed on or around the map.. Can be used for annotation, legend text, map titles, dynamic text, and the values of fields used to label features etc .. even if I currently just I am depicting to be used forannotations or labels - I was thinking as a general enhancement not just annotations or labels.
