With the recent addition of page-step ('arrow') commands to the layout view (and its upcoming addition to other view types), I am requesting the addition of an option for a "partial page-step size" option to allow for some overlap between pages.
For my work I thoroughly review satellite imagery and digitize new Human Footprint features. In ArcMap, the page-step command had a small built in overlap when paging over which helped a lot in reducing our likelihood of missing new human footprint features along the edges of any page. Currently, we need to page over and then press the opposite arrow key 2-3 times to simulate this overlap -- which is inconvenient and a substantial increase in inputs/hr when compared to doing the same work in ArcMap (which can prove to be an accessibility issue for folks who have trouble moving their hand between their mouse and keyboard, as well).
So adding an option for partially-overlapping page-step distance would be a great improvement to the overall workflow, improve accessibility and overall quality of life when reviewing imagery using ArcPro, and bring back a useful function that was lost in the transition from ArcMap to ArcPro.
Thank you for your time and consideration on this matter, I truly appreciate it.
Ethan
You've absolutely hit the nail on the head! That's a really great—and nostalgic—functionality.
I completely agree that the built-in overlap in ArcMap's page-step tool was incredibly helpful for thorough reviews and digitizing, especially when working with imagery and trying to catch those critical edge features. It truly made a difference in efficiency and accuracy by minimizing the chance of missing something along the "seams" of your view.
If that feature could be brought back into ArcGIS Pro, it would definitely be a big win for both efficiency and accuracy, not to mention a fantastic quality-of-life improvement for anyone doing detailed imagery analysis.
Fingers crossed it makes a comeback!
I agree Ethan, this would be very useful.
