Hi,
I am trying to use the below given link :

http://developers.arcgis.com/en/javascript/samples/portal_addshapefile/

to add a zipped shapefile but I am always getting the error "Unable to open the shapefile". I am attaching the zip file which I used. A small help in this direction would also be useful..

Thanks a lot,
Manila

Hi,

Thanks a lot for correcting the corrupt files. I would like to know which files you have corrected and how did you do? Can you give me a detailed step by step procedure as to how you corrected them. What all softwares are needed ? I have to generate many shape files for my work so it would be really helpful if you could give me all the details. Waiting for your reply.

Hello Sir,

Requesting you once again to tell me the procedure as to how did you correct the corrupt files. I tested with the new files that you sent me and they are working perfectly. I am just waiting for your reply to proceed with my work.

Thanks,

Hi,

I did nothing special. I opened your .dbf files in LibreOffice, edited and formatted your column headers and problem solved 🙂

Your column headers are corrupted. That is all. Open your corrupt files first in LibreOffice, and then parallely open my corrected files. You will see the difference 🙂 🙂

Thanks a lot Sriram Sir. I will check my .dbf files and also check the other files that have corrupted column headers. Thanks again. If there are still some issues I hope to get some reply from you in this regard.

Oki. If it solves your problem, you must 'mark' the answer by clicking on the arrow to the right side of the message/post that solve your problem. It encourages me and others to answer questions and also helps other people like you to find the answer quickly.

Yes, if you have more problems on this, you can ask again. If a new topic, start a new post, so that others can help you also.
