StoryMaps and KML Problems

I did my first StoryMap, trying to replace a Google Map embedded in a web page with a StoryMap, using one of the downloaded
ESRI provided templates. It allows you to attach to a web based KMZ file (not hosted on ArcGIS.com) and recognizes it on the
StoryMap being built on ArcGIS.com. I added several KMZ layers this way. Sounds great.

But 5 min later, you get a message, or next time you log on and open the map, that one or more of those layers are "unavailable". So, they are not displayed and do not even show up in the legend.

Has anyone seen this? I know its pretty new and still evolving. I know I can convert everything to SHP and finish it that way via ArcGIS Server. Just wondered if there were known issues with KMZ files.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

you will see this message when the KML is not accessible. Are you sure they are available at the time you are viewing the map? If you post the URLs to the KMLs, we can take a look.

Thanks,

Mike

The KMLs in question are located here and used to drive  a Google based web map, which consistently displays all of the KML files.

It would seem that if the KMLs were not really available, that I would be unable to initially add them and view the contents on ArcGIS Online. But I am able to do that. It is later on that they seem to fail to load. Several of the ones I added yesterday are now not loading. There should be 7 KML files in the online map.

The KMLs were all generated directly from Google Earth and not a 3rd party export.

The online map is at

Thanks for looking at it Mike.
