Hi,

I'm attempting to add a hosted scene layer and getting an error message that the Normal reference frame is incompatible with layer spatial reference.

dojo.js:408 [esri.layers.SceneLayer] #load() Failed to load layer (title: 'San Francisco landmarks - San Francisco.landmarks', id: '16631fa9cdd-layer-1') h {name: "scenelayer:incompatible-normal-reference-frame", message: "Normal reference frame is incompatible with layer spatial reference.", details: undefined}

I'm looking at How to Publish Scene Layers in ArcGIS  by Russel Roberts and am finding that I don't have all of the options. I'm wondering if this is why I'm getting the error message. If yes, do I need organizational permissions? If not, thoughts on why I'm getting the error?

Hi Marc,

The first thing I'm noticing that the one in the the tutorial is a hosted feature layer and on your map it is a scene package.

These two have different capabilities and why you are seeing different options take a look at this information:

Hosted Feature Layer

Scene Layer Package

There is a few different options that are stated in the article:

  1. Share directly from Arc Pro to ArcGIS Online
    1. Share>Share Web Scene
    2. This will open publish a web scene>Open in web scene
  2. Upload in ArcGIS Online a hosted feature layer:
    1. When uploading in ArcGIS Online it will have to be a zipped gdb or shapefile not the scene package
    2. Then go to Add item>Add from computer>Publish as hosted feature layer

This will publish a hosted layer. Go to the hosted layer>Publish>Scene layer

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Luba
