Hello all,
I'm trying to setup a feature service with multiple CAD datasets. We're mapping housing developments and as a new stages are developed/changed/approved, we'd like to be able to import new data into a feature service without compromising the existing data. As we assign values to the objectID's of the polygons in the shapefile manually through the website's CMS, when we need to update/republish new datasets, the polygon ID's change each time (as they seem to be assigned randomly) which renders our objectID 'tagging' irrelevant. If there is a way to add/remove CAD data on an existing feature service without re-assigning the shapefile's objectID's this would help cut down our mapping time considerably. Any tutorials or links would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Frank,
This sounds like a tough problem. Have you though about converting the CAD datasets to geodatabases instead of just publishing the datasets as they are (or are you doing something similar to this)? Or have you thought about not using the ObjectID as the unique identifier since this number changes (maybe using a different attribute either you assign or is randomly assigned)?
