Map not displaying all points

I have a map service of over 100,000 points that I've loaded into ArcGIS Explorer Online.  I need to be able to have a map user select multiple points and get an accurate count of those points using the dashboard.  It seems that as I zoom out on the map not all the points are displaying.  This makes it so if I select points for the same area at different scales I will get widely varying counts.
I've been able to work around this problem somewhat by using a filter.  I can limit the points shown to a specific geographic area.  However I have to keep changing the filter whenever I want to get a count of a selection of points.   Does anyone know if this is the best option?   Or is there something I can reconfigure in ArcGIS online or my map service to show all the points on the map.  Thanks for your help.

Can you provide the URL to your map service and how you're adding it to Explorer Online? Are you trying to add the service as features?

Thanks,

Mike

Thanks for your help.  I added the map service into my ArcGIS explorer map using the Add Sublayer as Features option.  I then loaded all the features.  The service is in a private group but I could add you to the group if that would help.

you can share the URL to the REST endpoint of your ArcGIS Server... I assume this is a public server?

I believe the limit is being controlled by the server. By default, a service will return up to 1000 records at a time. You don't really want your server returning 100,000 records at once. Ideally, you should set up visible scale ranges for the features in the service.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mark and Curtis,

Mark, you are right! There is a place to change the number of records that are returned.  The number that needs to be changed is at the bottom of the Parameters tab on the service properties.

Though we work with Curtis, we really don't get a chance to talk to him except through the ArcGIS Forums.  Haha....

Thanks for your help!
