I've added a location tracker in my ArcGIS Online map but it doesn't track when I open the map. Do I have to use the Collector for ArcGIS or similar app in order for it to work?
Solved! Go to Solution.
How did you create the location tracking layer? Did you do it under My Content > Create > Feature Layer and then search for the Location Tracking template. You should see this after you add this layer to a web map and click save, then go to Map Details and the Settings Tab.
Yes you have to use Collector for ArcGIS to leverage the tracking layer. You can configure the tracking frequency under the Application Settings in the map details.
For whatever reason on the Settings tab, the Application Settings under the Web Map Settings section doesn't show an option to enable the Location tracking feature. Does this mean location tracking is enabled by default?
These are my only options:

That is the exact route I took to create the location tracking layer, yet my Web Map Application Settings did not show the Location tracking check box option. I think from this point I'll delete my current feature layer and create a new one to see if that helps. Thanks.
When all else fails, hit the reset! Re-creating the feature layer seemed to do the trick. Thanks again!
