Sometimes I need to re-publish a hosted feature service, such as adding a layer. When I do this, I always get some errors, such as:
00362 The dataset (the one hosted) exposes the reserved field name...
24078 Layer's data source is not supported
Is this a wrong workflow? What should I do to add a local feature class to a hosted feature service if I don't have local backup of the hosted feature class anymore?
Thanks.
A workaround for this that I came up with is to export the hosted feature service to local geodatabase, add the new local feature class, and re-publish it. This may require redoing the symbology and updating links to the service in online maps or apps. This does not sound like an ideal workflow, but at least it works.
My team was experiencing the same thing. We used the same work around. Hoping to get a reason why!
I confirmed with Esri support today that publish a new service from a existing service is not a supported workflow. We can only overwrite the existing the service, or export it to local file and publish a new service.
