I want to publish a map service to my ArcGIS online account from ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap 10.8).  I have an ArcGIS personal license with administrator privileges.  I retired from an agency where I had published similar map services that were used by staff to mark inventory using the FieldMaps app.  I presently do not have an existing server connection, so this is how far I’ve gotten:

In ArcMap:  First, I signed into my AGOL account:

File Menu > Sign in

Then I proceeded to publish a map service:

File Menu > Share As > Service > Publish a Service > Choose a Connection

Here I don’t have an existing connection to choose, so I need to create a new connection, which opens the “Add ArcGIS Server” wizard.  I selected “Publish GIS services” and then I am to enter the Server URL, beginning with “http://”.

The suggestion under the Server URL box is: “ArcGIS Server: http://gisserver.domain.com:6080/arcgis”

I think I just need to find what my personal domain in AGOL is to complete the entry.  Where do I find this?  I think it’s referring to the ArcGIS server which hosts my account on ArcGIS online.  But I don’t know how to proceed.  Or maybe I’m way off.  Any help would be appreciated – thanks!

Hi @CindyEngel469

Are you using ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online? ArcGIS Online does not require you to use a server. Instead you can share a web layer. Here's a link to an article about the differences between ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online.
