I created a new crowdsourcing demo map for a class today. Data Collection worked for me on  my iPhone 4 running iOS 6.1.2. When the students collected data out in the field using the ArcGIS app on their  smartphones today, it crashed for students who ran iOS 7 as they  attached an image. Their data points appeared on the ArcGIS Online map, as did the attachment, but the other feature attributes that they had filled out were lost, so only the default values appeared. Is anyone else with iOS 7 experiencing the same issue?

I realize iOS 7 was just released last week, but the ArcGIS app has not  been updated in the iTunes App store - it is currently at 10.1.2 updated August 6 2013.

I can't reproduce this issue on my iPhone 5 running 7.0. Can you share your map with me and I can check it out and try to reproduce the crash.

Thanks

I have sent a PM with the map URL.

I personally observed the crash on a student iPhone 4s running iOS 7 during the demonstration on how to use the ArcGIS app to collect a data point. I then repeated the procedure using the student's iPhone 4s and again ArcGIS crashed when attempting to attach a photo. I was able to add a data point from the student iPhone 4s when I did not attach a photo.

Unfortunately I do not know what model of iPhone the other students who were running iOS had. (That was one of the fields that students were supposed to enter.) I did not observe their crashes as the students were out in the field.

My weird experience with Iphones....I have a field tech who is using his iphone to collect data using the collector app and it bombs when he tries to take a photo to attach during an edit session, he can add the attribute edits and save but not take a photo, when he tries it bombs back his home screen.
To get around this he has to first take the photo(s), store it, then add it from his gallery as an attachment. Don't know what IOS version he's using or if there is a fix, but the Androids work fine doing this.

We have some issues with iOS 7 and we are working on updating both apps to add support for this version of the iOS. If you could find out what version of iOS the device is running that will help us out.

Thanks

Some students with iPhones and iOS 7 mentioned that they had more success when attaching photos that were already in their Camera Roll (Choose from Library) than in taking the photo within the ArcGIS app.

I am using the collector app on two identical iphone 4S running the same iOS version of 7. One is able to take a picture and then attach it to the feature consistently. The second phone crashes as soon as the button is pushed to take the picture resulting in no image, no feature being collected and having to restart the app. You can how ever attach an existing picture without issue

I have not seen this issue before with any of my test devices. If restarting the app does not solve the issue can you try and delete the app and re-install it and see if that possibly solves the issue.

Thanks

When i open the collector app i do not get the option to collect feature.  Does the map i shared have to be shared in a certain way to make it so I can collect a point?

You will just need to have an editable feature service with Add/Create enabled. Then the Add feature icon will be present. Make sure the layer is visible. If the layer is off or outside the visible scale range it will not show up for collection.
