I love the New Map Viewer, have been enjoying it since it was in Beta. However there is one this about the Map Viewer Classic that I have been continuously revisitting that version of the app for, and that is the embed code option. In Map Viewer Classic we were able to go into our sharing setting and were able to access a html embed code that could be used to embed the maps into websites and what have you. I still will use Classic for this reason, however as more and more udpates come up for Map Viewer, Classic becomes more and more redundant. I.E. I cannot use this function via Classic for many of my maps that I am using tools such as vector images or lines with, because Classic does not support those types of functions.
So, my suggestion is, I would love to see an easy-to-access html embed code for New Map Viewer. I know this might not be such a big deal as many GIS Tech folks also have the know-how for creating their own embeds, however I know that this is not true for everyone, as I am here having this problem. I have tried to learn how to do this, but I am not a coder and the language is increasingly confusing for my map-minded brain.
Can anyone else relate?
Thanks for reading!
I can't believe this hasn't happened yet. I just want to be able to take the embed code and give it to our webmaster to embed on our webpage. Our web map was originally created in Classic Map Viewer. We adopted the New Map Viewer and love the layer grouping abilities. However, now all of our embedded web maps don't recognize layer groupings or visibility scale. The embedded map now is a complete mess.
I've seen documentation from a couple years ago that they were planning to add this feature to the new Web Map Viewer. Please consider adding this feature to the Map Viewer.
As you've pointed out, you can use Map Viewer Classic to generate the embed code. But then author your map in Map Viewer, then use Basic or Media Instant App with a minimal UI for your map. Edit the app URL into the embed HTML generated from Classic. That way you can leverage all the new Map Viewer capabilities in terms of styles, pop-ups, effects, etc.
(There will be better options coming in the future...)
