When a user clicks on an action in a results list--Open, Details, or one the options in the Open drop-down list--fire the resulting action in a new browser tab. Often you need to explore multiple, even many items in a search results list. Having to constantly try to navigate back to the search results list is clumsy and time-consuming. This would also make is easier to review the details from multiple results which one often needs to do.
