Currently, the extent of a map in the Map Viewer is reset to whatever it is when the map is saved. I would like to be able to set the extent of a map that will persist regardless of what the current extent of the map is when it is saved.
My use case is I have a number of different layers in my map, but none of them have the extent that I want to for the map. I have to add another layer ("Default Zoom layer") that has the extent I want to use, zoom to that extent, and then remove it. I do not want that specific layer in my map, since in the app that uses the web map, I programmatically add that layer.
Here, I screen recorded what I am seeing. There is no scale level between what you see here. I continuously draw the box smaller and smaller and get the same scale, until the box is small enough that it zooms in just as if I hit the + button.
I actually think what I am saying is different than what the original post is about, because yes, the OP would be solved via bookmarks.
I will give it a day or two for someone to address this but then I will start my own thread about this.
Bookmarks is not the solution. Putting the onus on me the designer or the user to hit a bookmark to fix their view is not a solution
This is a basic feature and needs to be built directly into the map viewer as its the fundamental compose to all of the apps. Not using Instant Apps so that option won't work for me.
It shouldn't matter position or scale I have my webmap saved at, In map viewer i should be able to set a scale level manually.
@BarrettLewis1 let us know if you create a new thread so that we can also vote up the idea.
