Users with user type "Viewer' capabilities should be able to save their own maps for personal use. They don't have to be able to share them with coworkers, the organisation or the world, just save them as their own maps for later usage.
Our organisation publishes a lot of feature layers that users can add to maps. However, they cannot save that map for future usage. Each time they want to use a certain combination of layers, they have to add them again and again. Why not add the capability for Viewer-users to save that map as a personal map so they can use it day in and day out with the layers and settings that is useful to them (and them alone).
Thanks for this idea, Hennie. In your organization, would that Viewer be putting together layers in a map that would be referenced by other members of the organization, or do you think they would mostly be referenced by that Viewer alone? (Curious if it makes sense for another user type to go ahead and create a map for them if it's something they would access often).
If any others have similar requirements, let us know.
Thanks!
- Hilary
Hi Hilary. The layers (hundreds) are referenced by many users (hundreds). And many of those users have their individual needs/preferences. It's practically undoable to prefabricate that many different maps (we are a very small GIS-team). Therefore, give them the possibility to put together their own personal maps for daily use (we call them workmaps).
