Limiting Editable Fields

In a web map editable feature class' table I want to give my users the ability to see all fields but make editable only certain fields (and even in the Desktop scenario too). Currently a lay user may inadvertently screw up many fields that don't even need to be edited.

Make the attribute you won't want edited as Read Only.  I do this all the time when integrating staking data into existing distribution lines.

This can be accomplished using Feature Layer Views.
