Shiny enables users to create interactive dashboards using R. Currently mapping in Shiny is supported using the leaflet library. This has really limited functionality and is a bit clunky. It would be great if someone could integrate an AGOL web map or AGOL feature layers with the Shiny App. That way developers and analysts could take advantage of AGOL's strong capacity to customize and build maps along with integration with desktop as well as R's poweful analytics and Shiny's dashboard experience. It would be great!

Thanks

if/when they migrate Shiny to utilize Leaflet 1.x, i'd be willing to take a shot at proposing a formal integration

https://github.com/rstudio/leaflet/issues/357

in the meantime, you could try the technique described here.

for leaflet 0.7.x, just found this: https://bhaskarvk.github.io/leaflet.esri/
