In ArcGIS Pro, there are many ways to sort how your time is set to progress forward in temporal layers. Whether it is from a day at a time, to an hour or a month and so on, it also has the option of moving forward to the next event in the time layer. This is currently not implemented into ArcGIS Online, and I think it would help. I'm currently at the ESRI UC so I can't grab a screenshot of my ArcGIS Pro options.
