I propose adding a feature to the preferences for embedded maps in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer Classic that would allow users to selectively toggle on/off specific layers within a web map. Currently, embedded maps provide limited layer control, which can lead to a less tailored user experience. Enabling layer-specific toggles would enhance user interaction, providing greater flexibility and control over map content for diverse audiences. This would improve usability for embedded maps in presentations, websites, and dashboards by empowering users to view and interact with only the layers they deem most relevant.
Use Cases:
- Public-facing interactive maps on websites where certain layers need to be easily viewable or hidden based on user preference.
- Educational tools and demonstrations where instructors can turn on/off layers to illustrate specific points.
- Internal dashboards that cater to various stakeholders with different data visualization needs.
This feature would greatly enhance the versatility and user-centric focus of embedded maps, aligning with ArcGIS’s goals of providing intuitive and customizable geospatial solutions. Additionally, will the option to generate code for embedding maps in websites be enabled for the new Map Viewer?
