As part of our ongoing efforts to modernize and enhance the ArcGIS experience, Map Viewer Classic has officially retired in both ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise (since November 2025, release of ArcGIS Enterprise 12.0).This change follows the July 2024 retirement of the 3.x version of the ArcGIS API for JavaScript, the technology on which Map Viewer Classic was built. With this transition, we’re focusing on delivering a more powerful, intuitive, and future-ready mapping experience through Map Viewer.
What does this mean for you?
- Maps previously saved in Map Viewer Classic will now open and be saved in Map Viewer.
- Map Viewer offers modern capabilities, improved performance, and access to the latest features for creating and sharing maps.
