When I export labels for a curved line feature, for instance a river, road, or trail, from Pro to .aix, they export as individual characters, each as it's own layer.
Often I need to change the label placement of these features and to do so I have to delete the existing label/characters and replace with a text along path element (or move each individual character--um, no).
I would like the ability to export these labels as text along a path so I can edit in Illustrator if needed:
As an aside, this functionality is possible because this exact thing happens when exporting a map from Pro that has a reference basemap (like World Terrain Reference)--the labels of the basemap turn up in AI as text along path. As I'm writing I realize this may have been implemented in the latest update...
Hello @FourCornersMapping -- Thanks for sharing this feedback to the Maps for Adobe team. Is it possible to share a Pro project here or a screenshot of the label settings. It would be great to understand if this is due to a setting. Thank you.
@MadhuraPhaterpekarThanks for the response. Here are screenshots of my label settings for one of the labels that has this issue. It's a label class for the NHDFlowline feature based on a SQL query for only the Colorado River.
This is what it looks like in Illustrator (note that the halos are separate layers, which is a whole other can of worms). The "COLORADO RIVER" layer at the top is one I created using text along path, after turning all the individual letters off.
