Hello everybody,

I want to classify the land cover of a Landsat szene. Therefore I created several feature classes with corresponding polygons (training samples) that represent the various classes, e.g. I have a feature classes with 10 polygons that represent the class "bare soil." When I load this feature class in the training manager, 10 training samples appear in the list. I highlight these trainings samples and then I want to merge them as all these training samples represent the class "bare soil". But anytime I press the button "merge training samples" in the training manager, ArcGis completely crashes. I warning appears that a crictical mistake happend, but no specific information on it.

Does anybody now why this happens and how I could solve the problem?

Many thanks in advance,

Matthias

I have the same issue, but don't have a definitive answer as to why the crashing keeps happening.

Are you working with a shapefile uploaded into your training sample manager from a previous session? That is where I have ran into problems. I have found through trial and error that ArcMap crashes when I try to merge a polygon with a class I had created in a previous session. However, I don't have any problems when I go to create a new class in an uploaded shapefile, and merge samples into the new class.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the shapes were created in another session and then loaded into the training sample manager in the lastes session - when I merge these single shapefiles to one class in the training sample manager ArcGIS crashes. This doesn´t happen when I draw the training samples "freshely" in the same session and then merge them to one class... So same problem like yours.

The problem remains.

The exact thing happens to me under the same circumstances! I ve trying to fixthis issue for weeks without having success. I have already tried with arcmap 10.2, 10.3 and Arcgis Pro. Also I have tried with new data and under different computers. It deffinitely a problem from arcmap or the training manager module. The best shot I have had is to start new classes or a new traning file, but it is very unpractical.
