I took a look at the screenshot that you provided. I noticed that the the setting "Check for item details updates" was toggled on, this might be why the new description isn't appearing. That setting is going to make sure that the item added to Portfolio app is pulling in the most up to date updates from the item details page.
With that being said, if you are trying to add a new description using the Portfolio app configuration panel, that "Check for item details updates" setting will override any updates made to title, description, etc. made in the configuration panel. Can you try disabling that setting and see if the description then appears as expected?
