Idea: Don't automatically change the map extent when a new layer is selected in the Attachment Viewer Instant App (or make it a configurable option).

Reason: In the Attachment Viewer Instant App, when a map has multiple layers with attachments and the user switches the active layer, the map zooms to the full extent of the newly selected layer. Perhaps there is some use case where this behavior is desirable, but for our users, it's a big annoyance. They typically zoom into an area of interest, and then want to click through the layers to see what photo attachments are available in that location. However, every time they click on a new layer, the map zooms out to the full extent of the layer and the user has to navigate back to their area of interest.

I posted this previously as a question as well: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-instant-apps-questions/attachment-viewer-zooms-to-full-extent-w...

Hello @HollyTorpey_LSA , you can mitigate this behaviour by setting the Extents of your Layers.

To do this you need to find the Layers you use in your App. For each one go to View Details > Settings > Manage Indexes section > Rebuild Indexes. This will set the Extents of the Layer to the extents of the data within it, rather than a larger value. Thus when you change Layers in the Attachments Viewer based app, it will zoom to those extents only.

Thanks for the suggestion, Chris. Unfortunately, all the layers in this app are statewide field data collection templates, so the problem still exists since each time a user select a new layer, it zooms to the full extent of the layer.
