Hello,
We are trying to connect to a Teradata DB directly from ArcGIS Insights. Tried to follow the steps, but unable to add the connector type successfully.
Has anyone tried connecting to Teradata from ArcGIS Insights? If yes, can someone share the dialect.yml and properties.yml files for reference. Any other tips?
Teradata Version: 17.10

Hi @Ian_Muehlenhaus. Thank you for the prompt response.
We upgraded our Insight to Version 2022.1.1.4568 and were able to add the Teradata connector type successfully. We were previously using Version 2021.3.1.4259, which I am assuming didn't support Teradata maybe. I couldn't confirm this as there isn't any info available in archive for Version 2021.x.

Awesome work, Asrujit!
In case anyone else in the community bumps into a Teradata DB connection issue, however, I've included links to some connection resources below.

Teradata properties.yml

Please note: these are nine months old and may require updating to work with newer versions of Teradata, etc.
Thanks!
I'm sorry to hear you are having connection issues.
Sadly, I don't have an answer for you myself, but I've reposted your question to some of our product engineers, and I'm hopeful one of them may have an answer.
Thanks for your question, and I hope someone can help you out soon!
Best,
Ian
Hi @Asrujit_SenGupta,
I think we have a solution, or at least a working example to work from, but...
Unfortunately, the person with the solution is off on a national holiday today and won't be back until tomorrow.
Can you wait until then? My apologies for the delay. I just wanted to give you an update.
Thanks for posting your question to our board and for reaching out to the Insights Community! We'll help you solve this! 👍
Best,
Ian

Awesome news about getting it to work! I'm so glad to hear.
Thanks for upgrading Insights. I'm going to post a reply with some useful links to your first post to help people that may run into this issue in the future.
Thanks again for helping us make Insights better by posting your questions to the Esri Community!
Best,
Ian

I have one more comment to the dialect.yml file. This configuration file is an example for you to make a connection to Teradata database. As it is 9 month old, it requires updating to work with newer versions of ArcGIS Insights.
We would like to help you make it happen if you need. Thanks!
What kind of updates are we looking at? What will be our limitations if we use the 9months old sample file directly, which seems to work with Version 2022.x. Can you share a recent reference file? We upgraded to Version 2022.x today, but plan to upgrade further once we upgrade the ArcGIS Enterprise environment. Any other tip is appreciated.
The sample dialect doesn't have all functions. Following areas need more work:
1. Spatial functions are not fully tested due to some road blocks at the time. Some road blocks have been removed after a few new releases, however, this dialect file is not updated.
2. Some new changes in the coming release 2023.1. This dialect isn't updated to adopt these changes.
This work requires significant time and effort. We can work with you to update the file.
Sorry for the delay in replying back. We have been discussing the upgrades and other factors with relevant teams. We plan to upgrade to 2023.1 if everything goes well and then test the required workflows. Will get back if we encounter any issues during testing.
