Bar Chart with date on the x axis

It would be create create a bar chart using a date field.  

This would be for a chart that has an x axis for dates with a reporting period like by day, week, month, or year.  Thinking something similar to what ArcGIS dashboards can do.

However, this should be possible to use the data components that are calculated by insights and using a cross filter on 2 or more charts.

Note that the cross filter Akshay mentions allows you to take the functionality further.

For like-for-like functionality with what you mention from Dashboards all you need do is select a date-time component such as Month from the data pane, and drag that to a bar or column chart.

Thank you! the idea would be to have mulitple years on the same chart visualized by year/month.

Currently I use a calculated field and that gets the job done, but is not ideal.
