Irregular results while using Generate Indoor Network Features tool

So I've been banging my head against the wall long enough that its time to ask you all here.

Despite following the tool steps precisely, I constantly get the very imprecise 999999 errors when running the Generate Indoor Network Features tool

Some facilities error out with no results created, others succeed in creating the pathways and transitions as hoped, but both end in 999999 errors.

Yes I am using the feature services as required for editing because Indoors is branched on our SDE. Apparently for this reason, I cannot attempt a Repair Geometry on my Details in case of self-intersections, overshoots, etc., but because that comes from our CAD system of record, I don't think that would help anyways.

Currently I am going facility-by-facility to create their interior network, but it is not my desired order as the buildings I am being asked to prioritize are some of the bad apples that refuse to work with the tool. We have a couple hundred facilities to include in our college campus Indoors mapping, so I am also looking for better instructions for implementing Indoor routable networks at scale

Does anyone have any insight or further detailed discussion of the nitty-gritty of creating the Indoor Network? Or experience connecting facilities to your existing Outdoor pathway network?  I followed the advice of this page, creating a Template where Pathways Type = Hallway/Sidewalk and Verticle Order = 0 and copied our outdoor walkways into our Pathways fc, but what about doors to levels that are not on Verticle Order level 0? There is no "To Level" and "From Level" values for outdoor walkways.

The screenshot attached shows one that "worked" even though it says "Failed to Execute". That feels buggy and unreliable and makes me distrust its results.

Any help or advice is appreciated!

Hi Ben,

I don't have any experience using the Esri tools, but I'd be happy to walk you through how we maintain our Indoors datasets using FME!

Best,

Jade

Hi Jade, I'd love to learn from your approach. We’re implementing ArcGIS Indoors across facilities at Texas A&M University and would love to learn from your approach. I’m interested in how we could adapt your FME workflows to feed the Esri Indoors data model.
