Hello,

I wanted to try the new tool “Extract Floor Plan Features From PDF”, but it keeps failing with ERROR 181175: Error extracting floor plan features from PDF, and I don’t know why or what is wrong with my pdf.

The PDF is not georeferenced and I created a polygon as the Processing Boundary.

Does anyone have any advice, please?

Thank you!

Hello Nicolas,

thank you for your response. Yes, there was a message saying “An invalid SQL statement was used.” I contacted our Technical Support and they found the same issue in Germany, just as you mentioned. We changed the region settings in Windows, and now the tool works as it should. I think they have linked my case to the bug reported in Germany.

The tool is now working fine!
Thank you.

Do any of the possible errors noted in the error topic apply?

181175: Error extracting floor plan features from PDF.—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation

The error topic also states that the list isn't exhaustive

This error can occur for a number of reasons.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer. I read the documentation for the error, but I’m still not sure what “The input .pdf file is valid” means. The Output Line Feature was created automatically, so I hope that’s all right. The page number is OK, and the specified extent was created using the tool in Processing Boundary – Extent.

They don't indicate what would make a pdf invalid in the tool help

Extract Floor Plan Features From PDF (Indoors)—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation

nor anthing in the general process

Extract floor plan features from PDFs—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation

you might just review the steps and the extent as outlined in the general process

Hi Tereza,

Thanks for bringing this up. If you expand the error message window, are there any other messages? I am specifically curious if there are any messages along the lines of, "An invalid SQL statement was used." If so, what Windows region settings are you using? We have a known issue where the tool will fail on German Windows locale with that error message that we couldn't reproduce with some other regions, so curious if you are experiencing that.

Another comment from Dan mentioned the documentation doesn't mention what a valid or invalid PDF is, so I wanted to share that here for anyone else who may be curious. The following situations lead to the PDF being considered invalid for both the Extract Floor Plan Features From PDF tool and PDF to TIFF tool:

1. A password protected PDF

2. If you drag and drop a PDF from your Contents pane into the Input PDF parameter; when a PDF is in the ArcGIS Pro Contents pane, we're actually just seeing a raster representation of the PDF, not the PDF layer/file itself. Either browse to a PDF in the tool's dialog box or drag and drop a PDF from the Catalog pane.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
